CarbonAid® gas diffuser is a disposable device intended for the insufflation of CO2 into the cardio thoracic cavity to reduce the risk of air embolism. CarbonAid® has been shown to be the most effective device for de airing of a
cardio thoracic wound cavity and is the only device that stays efficient when wet. By avoiding turbulence it creates a CO2 atmosphere within the wound cavity. The continuous overflow of CO2 from within the cavity also prevents small particles from falling into the wound, thus reducing the risk of contamination. The well known bacteriostatic effect of CO2 further contributes to the prevention of infections.
Routine use of CarbonAid® during cardio thoracic surgery results in:
